Children's Religious Education
Children's religious education takes place during the 10:30 mass each week. Children ranging from 3 years old to 6th grade are dismissed during the mass before the first reading to learn about the Gospel reading for the day in a way that they can better understand and enjoy. Kids 3-5 years old attend the Sonshine Club, where they participate in fun activities such as arts and crafts as a means of engaging them in the teachings of the day. The 1st - 5th graders are part of the Goodnews group where they discuss the messages of the Bible more thoroughly than the Sonshine Club, while also doing fun activities.
On September 11 there will be a meeting immediately after the 10:30 Mass to discuss the children's Religious Education program. The new 32-week program starts September 25 and runs through May 12, 2012. We will again be offering a class for Sonshine/Seeds (Pre-K), Good News (K-5) and Ventures (6th - 8th). The Sonshine/Seeds and Good News classes will be dismissed during the 10:30 Mass and the Ventures (Jr. SMYG) class will be after Mass. The cost will be $20.00 per child with a $5 discount for each sibling thereafter. This fee includes curriculum, snacks and other materials necessary to run the program. This program depends on the community to volunteer to lead the classes. All are invited to attend to share ideas on how to have a successful year. Please see Laurie Moan or Bea Tiritilli for additional information.
