Children's Religious Education
For children ages 4-12
About Jesus, as a twelve-year-old in the Temple, the Apostle Luke said:
And Jesus matured, growing up in both body and spirit, blessed by both God and people." [Luke 2:52, The Message (MSG)]
We at St. Matthew are committed to our future generations and endeavor to provide a loving, accepting, and stimulating learning environment for every child under our care. Each child and family is important to us! We invite your questions and your participation!View the PDF application form here
The new school year begins on the Sunday after Labor Day weekend. A calendar for the year will be sent to all families whose children are enrolled. Each class runs during the 10:30 AM Sunday Mass, before the Liturgy of the Word until the Sign of Peace [about 45 minutes]. Then the children return to participate in the Mass with their families.
Our teachers are trained volunteers, working as a cohesive team, under Mo. Jetty+. They are committed to this service and include young adults, mid-career adults, credentialed teachers, parents and grandparents.
Based on an excellent published series designed for children from ages 4-7 and 8-12, its content follows the traditional catholic liturgical year. We will use age- appropriate DVD films of scripture stories, along with age-appropriate learning activities or crafts, music, and snacks.
